Hi,

Just wondering how I focus if i'm doing Self Portraits?

two ways

#1, set your camera on tripod, put something at where you suppose to pose, focus on the things and set camera to manual focus to lock focus, remove the thing, start self timer and pose.

#2, compose your shot with tripod, dismount camera, pose where you are with the camera, focus on the tripod base, set to manual focus to lock focus, mount the camera on tripod, start self timer and pose.

Can also use AF- just sit/stand where you're supposed to and focus/fire using a remote cabel or radio controlled shutter release.

Cal also use AF by focusing at your image in a mirror - lots of room for creative approaches here!

Use the modded Ah Lian super cam whore approach. Can also practise self panning at the same time by incorporating Bollywood spinning around action.

Assuming remote cable is long enough. Does it work the same as the camera shutter using half-press to focus? :dunno:

it takes some strength to hold a dslr with one hand and focus and press the shutter at the same time.

check if your lens providing a DOV meter or mark, then you will be safe for MF or AF mode

The best is you can use manual focusing.

Closest subject priority AF will also help in many situations. Most of the time when you do self portrait, you are the closest subject. You don't have to aim the focusing point at anything, your camera will determent the closest subject and focus on it. Do maintain enough DOF, your camera may not be focusing exactly on your eyes, but you want your eyes to appear in-focus.
