was told by the sales staff that the speed is
similar to a 40x CF card, sigh.....

tried to format the drive in camera,
its like ages.
buffer flushing is horrible,
not even close to the 'normal' speed card that i have.

don't buy,
don't even consider.

 mmm..... better consider a second time before i buy!

you guys sure it is that slow /// /// ???

i didn't test on site,
but was assured by seagate's SOMEBODY that
its same as 40x.

it took 20D 8mins to format,
5D 9plus minutes.

preview as snail crawling fast.

:(

No way it can perform at 40x speed. Better buy a CF.

Anyone who has one can comfirm ! please !
Cause its S$229 for 4 gb , cheap cheap cheap !!!

when i call up ATF(the retailer),
a nice staff by the name of ken spoke to me.
said he is a techie.

calculated that 4GB/600secs and divide by 150kb = 40x.
well, i m just a photog, not a techie,
so can't dispute his calculation.
but my CF card that's rated 45x format in 4secs.

very very disappointed.

get the kingston elite pro at 359 from eastgear.
for that premium,
u get faster speed(n i mean FAST!)
and a lifetime warranty.

well, format takes longer, due to the fact that the card is bigger.

but however, if you want something really fast, i think Lexar Professional CFs at 80X are one of the fastest around :)

well, i dumped the lexar n switched to kingston,
not for the speed, but reliablity.
with my mid range dslr,
40x n above good enough.

formatting is the only example i gave.
another is do u expect the preview to take more
than 10secs from one pic to another?

it can't format at 40x,
it can't write at 40x,
it can't read at 40x
and it won't startup at 40x.
so how can it be rated at 40x???

ps- got a full refund, not before i raise my voice.
management of the retailer won't speak to me as they claimed its
seagate's responsibilty. the sales manager of seagate(st***en) won't
answer or return call on his mobile. retailer ask me to go to SITEX,
SITEX no more seagate's staff, counter staff ask me to return the
next day! i shouted at this point. sorri to that young girl, don't mean to.
my point in this thread is not that i m disappointed with the card,
but that the sales team mis-represented themselves.
40x is fast enough, but that card is like 2x???

pps-my normal card is 4GB too, so microdrive is not bigger.

As far as I know, HD cannot match the speed of Falsh Rams. They also consume more power.
And......, more prone to magnetic field and drop. It's small hardisk.

Ok, to be fair, Flash RAM prone to static and electrical failure.

Arto.
