The other day, my friend showed me a screw in type ND filter. Just by turning the filter like you do with CPL, you can have from ND2 to full black. He said he got it from Cathay. I checked with MS Color today. They don't sell it and said this sort of filter is rare.

For those who have used this filter before, would you prefer this over the slot in type?

it is definitely much more convenient. i used to have two pieces of rectangular NDs and stack when needed, now i just bring one (77mm) variable ND..

I got one from Cathay. Its pretty handy since I can turn to the one end to focus, then turn to the desired amount and take the photo, instead of mounting and demounting the filter all the time.

I pretty keen to get 2 of these . If anyone is getting, can tie in for a group purchase.. may be can get it cheaper.

;)

do note that for UWA (ultra wide angle) lenses, there might be problems. you can easily google for what these are.
