scratched mirror

Hi all.

How will a scratched mirror of a camera affect the image quality?
How can we do a general cleaning of the mirror (got specks of stains)

the mirror, whether dirty or not, doesn't matter. it just irks the eye looking through the viewfinder, that's all

Anything happened to the mirror will not affect the final image. The mirror only reflects light from the lens to the viewfinder. It gets out of the way when the shutter is released.

Use a lens tissue to wipe it off. Remember not to add too much pressure on it for it's a delicate piece of instrument. I usually do that.

Pay a bit of cash.. send to Nikon service centre for cleaning. If still under warranty should be FOC...

Using F90x right? The mirror coating isn't that fragile, just with microfibre cloth or lens tissue after giving it a few puffs with a blower.

If the specks are still there, then they could be stuck in the focusing screen. Just follow the instructions in the manual to remove the screen for and blow off the dust.
