SCAM! Trying to get your Visa card number!

Just received an email I never seen before, that goes like this, it is a SCAM by the way:

" From:"verifiedbyvisa@visa.com" <verifiedbyvisa@visa.com> Add to Address Book To:"Visa Owner" <xx> Subject: Your Visa card will become unavailable for online transaction since the 1st of June! Date: Wed, 25 May 2005 02:27:15 +0000 Since the 1st of June all the online stores participating in Verified by Visa
will not accept for online transaction Visa cards not registered in Verified
by Visa. Be sure to activate your card before the 1st of June or you will not
be able to use your Visa card for online transaction.


HOW IT WORKS - VERIFIED BY VISA
Verified by Visa protects your existing Visa card with a password you
create, giving you assurance that only you can use your Visa card online.
Simply activate your card and create your personal password. You'll get the
added confidence that your Visa card is safe when you shop at participating
online stores.


HOW IT WORKS - ACTIVATING YOUR CARD
You may activate Verified by Visa for your Visa card by entering your card
number over our secure server. If your card issuer is participating in
Verified by Visa (most issuers are) you'll complete a brief activation process.
You'll verify your identity, create your Verified by Visa password and you're
done.


HOW IT WORKS - SHOPPING WITH VERIFIED BY VISA
Your card is automatically recognized.
Once your card is activated, your card number will be recognized whenever you
purchase at participating online stores. You'll enter your password in the
Verified by Visa window, your identity will be verified, and the transaction
will be completed.


NOTE
If you already have your personal password with Verified by Visa but nevertheless
got this email, you must go through the activating process again as
the last activation of your Visa card had not been done properly.

When you buy on-line, usually the shops that you buy from has a link to their own CC web address (usually secured and it should start with https://....)

a simple measure of security will be never to reveal your confidential details over the email.

always look out for the secure transaction symbol (a lock) when performing transactions.

Yes, thats why they are asking you to go to a link.......many people outthere that still fall for it!

what if the spoof site has a lock too?

always look out for the secure transaction symbol (a lock) when performing transactions.

normally, i just delete any mail related to bank account, visa card number, login password, etc....
