Hi, Need advise on is there any filter that has scale marking (X and Y axis) on it which could screw into lens. The purpose is to measure the size of the object.

Regards.

Need advise on where to get such stuff.

Never heard of such thing before ....... how is the filter going to find out what focal length are you using? Even if it is a fixed length, a 50mm lens can be 48mm - 52mm in actual calculation.

and also with DSLR, 1.5/1.6x crop factor... (makes any diff?)

or actually you are looking for a crossbar like filter with markings that look like scale but no indicator of mm or cm? (think only can be found on the mirror)

dont think such a thing is possible. There is no way whatever markings on the filter will be in focus enough for you to use it as a guide. A better way would be to put a scale next to the object you're shooting.

Quite difficult to take measurement as shooting the subject submerge into water in a fish tank. So looking for a fast readout directly from the image captured.

water in itself at a distance would be a magnifying glass already... if you place the scale on the camera, the focusing lets say is 5m away, the scale on your cam would be gone... and besides... no lens can focus on 0.0m...(i think) even with smallest aperture...

guess it is not possible to do it. Thanks a lot for all the advise.

you can use external markings. There is a device that throws out laser grid lines at regular intervals, forming a nice grid backdrop but i'm not sure if it is sold here

otherwise just use a bbq wiremesh as the backdrop with a ruler tied as a reference to how big each square is..
