SC-17 with SB-800?

Yes it works fine. I personally use SC-17 with SB-800. But, fit the SB-800 properly to SC-17. Otherwise the contact might not be proper resulting in improper exposure.
 

If I din remember wrongly, when you use SC-17 with SB800 on a DSLR, there is no D-TTL function...

I got this info from my D100 manual. Please check under flash photography

Did the D100 manual forecast the launch of the SB800 flash 2 years ago?!

Yupz! Its written in the D100 maual, under flash photography.Eh...I bought my D100 only early this year. I am not sure if the previous batches of D100 manual relected this :)
 

okok... bottomline is: the SC17 is just a bunch of cables and contacts. nothing else. if there's signal, there's signal. if a flash can work in the hotshoe, it'll work on the SC17.
