Thinking of heading down to SBWR today afternoon.

Can a simple Sigma 70-300mm good enough to take pics there?
Also, what time is good to visit?

inserts yes... bird maybe not enough
 

Insects, mud skippers. mangroves crabs still ok. Birds is definately out.

You may be able to get the m monitor lizard though.

I did a short tour around 1.5 hrs before heading home. You guys are right-on! Lens is really too short to take birds! How I wish I have the big guns..

Save up for the Tamron 200~500 ....
Cheapest 500mm .... last time I asked was about $1.6K
 

Even if you have the right lens, you need to go to there at the right time... Birds ain't there 24/7 all the time... Not too sure when is the season with the most birds... Any bird shooters to enlight us?
 

Birds? Got...but even at 300mm, they were so small! This is the largest I managed to take...pic is uncropped.
