I am saving my photo in a hard disk by dates the photos is taken.
Just wondering if there are better methods to categorize those photos.

Its totally up to personal preference what might work for you might not work for others and vice versa. I store my photos in separate folders, each one for every shoot I go on.

Depends also on your workflow for editing. When using software like Lightroom it becomes irrelevant in which way the images are stored. The Lightroom catalog system will store all meta information (which can extended / edited manually to add personal tags) and the location of the image. You can create your own collections to combine pictures freely. The same image can appear in more than one collection if required.
In addition, you can also define the way the pictures are imported from your memory card. LR can setup a folder structure 'per year' with subfolders for date of import or whatever you like. This way you can also localize pictures without starting LR software.

Haa as mentioned by one forumer earlier, i think date with location will be a good way.

I am quite ancient I think, I do it by naming my directories in this format
YYYYMMDD_Location_Event
Such that it kinda sorts nicely based on the dates. :)

;)sound good will use this method. thanks
