Refer to Other thread.

I suspect the Sanyo 1850mAh batteries are fake.

1. Model # is same as the 1600mAh model (HR-3U).
2. No "Twicell" branding. Sanyo brands their NiMHs "TwiCell".
3. Different shade of green.
4. No mention of 1850mAh in all their websites.

CK

o no this sux
well just wait for the Sanyo to reply

Sure look like those 1850s to me.

I have written to Sanyo Global, and receive reply from Sanyo Singapore. Below is what I got:

Dear Mr. Albert,
Thanks for your reply.

Here I have a photo of the Sanyo 1850mAh NiMh batteries that I have
seen in Singapore.

Is this the original Sanyo product? I am puzzled as the green colour of the
1850mAh NiMh battery is different from the 1700mAh NiMh that I bought, and
there is no "TwiCell" wording on the Sanyo 1850mAh battery packing.

Please verify if this is original Sanyo Twicell NiMh battery.

Reply:

Dear Mr Koh,
Based on the attached picture, looks like they are genuine product.
However, we have to look at the actual part to verify them.

Thank for your effort to keep us update, are you making arrangement to send the battery to Sanyo to check?

no...as I am in Malaysia. Will keep updated if I got another mail from Sanyo Singapore.

I think the fact that these batteries are being distributed with the Minolta D7i more or less proves that they are genuine. Surely Minolta wouldn't bundle fakes...

Hurray...! :p

Hi Everybody,

The Sanyo 1850mAh AA NiMH Batteries are genuine parts from Sanyo, but are not sold under the Twicell name for some reason. Their product literature is already available from authorised Sanyo energy dealers :)

Warmest Regards,
DarkRay

Any info on this online?

What's the reason for not using TwiCell?

I checked with the distributors, and apparently, they are unsure about why the change in naming convention as well, just that Sanyo has decided it to be so.

Some confusion probably arose because these new Sanyo 1850mAh AA NiMH Batteries share the same part number, HR-3U, as the older Sanyo Twicell 1600mAh AA NiMH Batteries. What I was told was that actually for the Twicell, with the exception of a few models, most are actually meant for industrial use, i.e., they are usually sold without the nipple at the positive end....

saw someone selling the 1850 at UK yahoo.com it might be true that its does come as a bundle with some digi cam....have yet to cfn hehe

Can get the 1850mah battery in S'pore for $13.50 for pack of 4.
Just bought a pack and is using already, it is the same one that comes with the Minolta 7i.
