Damn fedup with SAFRA.

Yest(19th Apr) received a SAFRA letter and surprised to see a membership card in it.

I had terminated SAFRA membership since 2002 and had not renewed since.
All this while, i received letters from SAFRA and asked me to join but i neber subscribed.

I was quite pissed off with SAFRA how come they deducted the membership fees
from my account and renewed the membership without my knowledge!

I called up the customer service operator today (20th Apr) and ,M, answered my
enquiries. I asked her how come SAFRA deducted the fees without my knowledge and
M replied from her data base, my membership was renewed in March.

However, she failed to give me a satisfactory answer why the membership was renewed
without my approval?

And her advice was.... ask me to write in a termination letter to cancel the membership.

I was really baffled by the whole incident.
I neber apply for the membership and now i had to go through the hassle of calling and writing to terminate it.

The purpose of creating this thread is highlight this incident and hopefully, no one is caught in the same situation as me.

And check your account monthly!
You don't wish to see some digits missing without your knowledge!

;( ;(

If you had terminated the GIRO for SAFRA they would be unable to deduct from your bank account.

Did you only terminated the SAFRA membership but did not inform the bank to terminate the GIRO?

But strange that an inactive/cancelled account could be reactivated unilaterally without the person subscribing/applying for it.

I'm puzzled with that too.
I terminated the account nong nong time ago. since 2002.

From 2002-2006....i neber get any membership card or any deductions....only yest!!!

The customer service operator claimed my membership is renewed in MARCH which i neber send any approval letter or application form.

Really very puzzled by the whole incident.
Waiting for the answer next week.

Quite similar to my old Readers' Digest subscription from a long long time ago. Still sent me copies & kept asking for money even though I had cancelled the subscription.

You are not the only one.

Called them up and they asked me to write in. No reply since.

I think you got the wrong impression.

Posting here doesn't mean i need to get any form of achievement.
You got to be kidding if one post here, means s/he need to achieve sthg.

By illustrating my incident here, i'm merely trying to highlight to the rest of CSers here to be more mindful of such unfortunate tactic.

and

also gather how many of them suffered the same fate.

Besides, writing a letter to the media is the last resort when things doesn't sort out.

CC to PM's office is really a stupid idea that you come out with.
Do you understand what is PM's role in the 1st place?

;) ;)

As far as I know:
PM's role is to keep thinking of excuses of increasing his cohorts' (and his) pay...

Hey, that means i'm not the only one!!!!

SAFRA must be betting on the possibilities that some NSmen be forgetful or bochup such trival things...to get a share of membership fees!!!!

Scheming tactic.

You are using the wrong words.
It is not "thinking of excuses"!

It is "taking care of"

This is what a leader should do!
To take care of his subordinates and ensure their future is bright.

Yes, but it was painfully clear that you were seeking redress, and were not receiving it.

Your primary objestive of starting the thread is painfully obvious - to rant and rave because you were pissed off, then you tried to make yourself look good by putting in a secondary objective of warning others. Please save us the cloaked 'niceness'!

Absolutely no further comments since you appear to know everthing and please don't bother trying to distract by your amaturish use of semantics (which you probably would).

ON A PERSONAL NOTE: I did NOT insult you, yet you replied in a condescending manner and deemed me stupid by virtue of my suggestion. If that's not a clear insult, and a freudlant slip uncloaking your character and personality, or lack thereof, I don't what is. Is it any bloody wonder why CS is often viewed as a hostile and unfriendly place?

I refuse to bring myself down to your level and shall refrain from replying to your insult.

CHEERS!

Yea man. And the best part when people try to use big words to confound others, they spell it totally wrong!

"Freudlant"? HAHAH :p

And anyway, as encouragement to the thread starter, I welcome more of these types of threads, it does serve as a warning to me :) Just ignore the troll - perhaps he is not what he seems :)

U are a NSMAN right? All Nsman who have served national service are automatically Safra members. Safra is open only to Nsman and servicemen and women. When you were in NS, you were asked to give bank account for entering your pay? Well that is the account that all financial transactions pertaining to SAF go through. Deducting the Safra membership fees from your ICT pay is common and accepted practice.

And frankly I dont know if u can cease being a member of Safra and suscription to Pioneer. I think it is complusary. The last I checked my OC needs to endorse cancellation which he refused to do so. He said u are a serviceman and you must stay in the loop and also Safra is for bonding between Servicemen. So LL PL
