S1 or J3: Which to get?

Any advice coming from the pros here. Intending to get one of the nikon 1 series below $400.

If you are willing to go the 2nd hand route, a good V1 can be bought as a kit for a lot less.
As bodies, S1 and J3 are too old to be worthwhile buying first hand.

Go check out black market camera at Peninsular Shopping Centre. They have cabinet full of pre-loved V1s, and if I remember correctly, it's around the $100 - $200 mark.
