Photographer Andrew Schär has posted a fascinating comparison of noise levels in the video mode of the Canon EOS 60D, one which shows that ISO 160, and multiples thereof, show less noise in the blacks than nearby lower ISO settings. The difference at some ISO intervals is dramatic. Says Schär, who conducted the test after loading his camera with the latitude-expanding CineStyle Picture Profile from Technicolor: "it seems to me that ISO 640 has about as much noise as ISO 100."
