Borrowed a topic from other forum.

By looking at the pattern, Ricoh might introducing GRD V after 3rd quarter of next year.

For me I would like to see a Full Frame or 1" sensor if size and design could maintained from GRDIV. Improve in writing speed, weather sealed, top LCD panel, longer battery life and quick startup and Daido's color preset lol...

What would you wish to see in next upragde and why those features in this tiny camera?
Or it will grow slightly larger (GRD I/II is abit smaller than III/IV)?
Is there possiblities that it will replace GH2 and GW2?

Putting some past GRDs comparison:

Comparing: Ricoh GRD l Ricoh GRD II l Ricoh GRD III l Ricoh GRD IV l Ricoh GRD V

Year: 2005 l 2007 l 2009 l 2011 l 2013?

Sensor: 1/1.8" CCD 8.1mp l 1.75" CCD 10.0mp l 1/1.7" CCD 10.0mp l 1/1.7" CCD 10.0mp l 2/3" (Fujifilm X10) or 1" CMOS (Sony RX100)?

Max Aperture: f2.4 l f2.4 l f1.9 l f1.9 l f1.8?

Secondary AF system: Yes l No l No l Yes l Yes?

VC: No l No l No l Yes l Yes?

LCD: 2.5" TFT 210k l 2.7" 230k l 3" 920k l 3" 1.23mil l 3" 1.2mil Whitemagic?

Dimension: 107.0mm x 58.0mm x 25.0mm l 107.0mm x 58.0mm x 25.0mm l 108.6mm x 59.8mm x 25.5mm l 108.6mm x 59.8mm x 32.5mm l 109.5mm x 61.0mm x 38.5mm?

Accessories: GH-1 GW-1 l GH-1 GW-1 l GH-2 GW-2 l GH-2 GW-2 l GH-3 GW-3?

Personally I think a bigger sensor like 4/3 /APS-C/full-frame is not viable on GRD because it would increase the size too much. One attraction of the GRD series has always been small size, good for street photography. Top LCD sounds like a nice feature, can save battery from not having the big LCD on also. Agree on weather sealing, battery, startup also. Perhaps sensor wise they should incorporate what has been used in the Pentax Q, squeezing even more image quality from tiny sensors.

I think the Ricoh patents for 4/3 should be for a GXR module? If you think about it, smaller than APS-C sensor will give better depth of field, good for landscape on those wider lenses.

1" sensor should be possible, look at the Sony RX100.

Hopefully no 4/3 sensor for gxr system. Unless Ricoh has new line of product like GXR 2, 4/3 modules and FF modules perhaps.

I also wish Ricoh will come out with with VF3, not EVF, its hybrid VF!! Lol...

On GRD, improve sensor to i) 1", and ii) have a 40mm or 45mm equivalent.
On GXR, please give me 21mm be it f4 I am happy like bird. Continue to have GR lens and without AA filter.

Coming soon in Y2013, GXR A16 15-36 f2.0 WR !

Oh.. do u have the link? :)

Oh haha.. okok i slow la.. i hope they will make similiar lens with WR too. :)

GRD V wishlist
# Keep the size / ergonomics similar if not the same.
# Squeeze in the 1" sensor.

GXR wishlist
# They have the 28/50 pairing. How about the 21/35mm modules (dont really care if it's FF)
# M-Mount FF
# Much better buffer when storing the images
# When NR=OFF, it means that after a 15s exposure, the camera should be ready to shoot the next frame, and not wait for another 15s before shooting! !*@^&!*&#^

Anyone want to share add in your guesses on what's next? :)

Grd V to have APSC sensor....

Interesting news

Ricoh GR Digital V to Feature an APS-C Sensor

Juuuuusst when I'm start looking at Sony RX1 and come this news from Ricoh which as usual did not disappoint me.

Body will be thicker... wondering will it as thick as Canon G or as thick as GXR or Sony RX100 or RX1..

Something to look forward to in this year. :)

27mm f1.9, with VC, and no AA filter. ricoh, you can take my cash, anytime ready.
i guess they would not feature 28mm to avoid direct competition to GXR 28mm f2.5

40mm! Anyway, they have been filing patents, but we want to see the product! Come on Ricoh, show us GRD V in its full glory, and a GXR M mount in FF!!!

Bit surprising they didn't show it on at the CP+...
