New to photography and SLR's

Bought a 3100 last Nov

Wanna upgrade to a 18-200mm lense for further zoom.

Anyone can gimme any tips?
I saw one on forum selling 2nd hand Sigma (NikonMount) 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC
$500

Tempted to buy and upgrade but does it have auto focus?

Anyone can gimme tips? Or even better reviews?

Google is your friend. Use it.

Make sure you get the version with OS HSM.
OS (optical stabilizer) is sigma version of VR. You'll need it in the tele end.
HSM (HyperSonicMotor) is the built in motor (think AF-S). The lens will not autofocus on your camera without this.

You can top up $100++ to get a second hand Nikon 18-200mm VR lens.

Get the Nikon 18-200mm lens. Though it's more expensive, the lens is sharper. Definitely worth the $$$ if you intend to get a walk-around lens for multi-purpose usage.

i think this one is much more better -AF-S NIKKOR
70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II

Fast aperture, f/2.8 zoom features VR II image stabilization, ED glass and Nano Crystal Coat. Excels at low-light sports, fashion, portraits and more.

Yes definitely ! VR nikon 18-200 is 4 stop and very very work in this way. Even sigma ,I think sigma OS cant get 4 stops (They claim 4 stops, but it not) . Even canon IS not as good as VR on nikon 18-200 VR. and this lens not just VR , the sharpness and Color too.
