Hi,

I am designing a catalog however the photos have a background, for
example the pictures are of shoes but i can see the table the shoe is
sitting on and the background behind the shoe, is there a way to cut
the shoes out in Photoshop so the background is removed?

Thanks

1. quick mask to select the shoe, delete background,
2. pen tool to trace the shoe, right click, make selection and inverse the selection. delete.
3. if your background is quite distinctly different from the shoe (colour), you can try the background eraser tool. press 'e' 2 times and delete your background.

hope this helps.

Best would be to take the pictures already with a neutral backdrop so that there is little need for extensive photo editing. Sheets of paper or muslin can help. Available in many photography shops and online. A light tent provides defined light conditions that you can adjust according your needs.
