Not sure if there is any Nikon user out there who can help me.

I was going thru the manual to understand how I can use my speedlight SB-800 as a remote flash. From the manual, it is stated that if the built-in flash is set to '- -', the built-in flash will not fire.

i followed exactly what was writen in the manual, but then beside my remote flash fires, the built-in flash fires as well. Is this correct? Anyway, to stop the built-in flash from firing?

Nope. The built in MUST fire to trigger the remote SB-800 (or SB-600 if you use tat model)

The only way not to see any flash light from your side is to use a SU-800.
