Recommendation Needed: Rock Solid Desktop Tripod

I am looking for a quality tripod to do macro photography on desktops and tables as well as a bag portable tripod for travel. I have a 20D and use the EF100mm for my macro work so it can be quite heavy and those I have seen so far are just puny and unstable.

I will be so grateful if someone could make a suggestion of brand and model (and estimate price as well as vendor will also be helpful!)

One of the more stable table top I have tried is the Manfrotto 345 table top kit.
Pretty solid if you don't screw in the column.
Comes in a pack and is very portable.
Price I forget but should be around the region of $65
Was at one time available almost everywhere but I have seen them at TK Foto however not sure if they still have it.

I'm using an Ultrapod II. Very lightweight and can handle DSLR with regular zooms/primes very well. There is a velcro strap that you can used to strap onto lampposts or trees too.
