Recommendation a Digital Camera

Hi

I know nuts about digital camera, so would like to seek your opinion and recommendation. Please help !

What do you think is the few most important features or consideration ?

1. Money (of course lah).
2. More megapixel
3. Lens. Are the Sony lens good ? (dun flame me, juz a question)
4. Direct connect to printer (like canon ixus v2..etc).
5. Some manual overwrite ?


Please recommend a camera in the budget

a. $900+
b. $600+

for $900, can probably get a 2nd hand Canon G2. very good cam, 4.0MP and with full exposure control, including manual. and this coming from a Nikonian...

Different people will have different main area to consider.


For me I consider the following before I get mine:-

1) simple p&s
2) light to carry (bring everywhere?)
3) able to handle low light photography?
4) lots of manual control or just auto + some ev compensation

off hand some models ranges from 1) to 3)

olympus c-1/c-2 series (I have a c-1 for carry everywhere)
canon a40
olympus c7xx/c30x0/c40x0 (finally own an c4040 to partner my c-1)
fuji s602z
canon g2
sony 717 etc

the minolta F100 looks nice, full control, with subject focus tracking.... only weakness is no AF illuminator...

I would love to have a G2... but no $$$. Do you think G2 price will go down with the G3 launch ? Shall I wait and see ?

After thinking through, I'm more concern about the sharpness, brightness, constrast, quality of of the picture.
Which camera is more realiable in this area given a budget of $600 and $1000 ?

They recommend Olympus Camdeia C-720/C-730 Ultra Zoom and the FujiFilm FinePix S304 for $800-900+ range. Any comments on this ?

If i were to choose between the two, i would choose the C730Z, C730 being the update to C720.

But I don't mind getting a second hand G2 for that price too. Image quality shld be sharper and better compared to C730 and S304.

quality lense is a must...
those print direct thing= i personally think its abit ex (paper & stuff)

my initial thought was to get a fuji s304, olympus 730, v3 or a nikon 4500...

The last I heard G2 is about $1200-$1300.
