Go for Sharp LCD. One of the best and most expensive (I think).

Have Hitachi and zero complaints from me. Xbox 360 looks damn fine in HD :)

I'd say go for plasma.

Why?

If you watch normal tv / action movie on it ... you'll find that LCDs tend to have this lagged effect, especially if your components are not high end that does upscaling etc.

Plasma wise - Hitachi / Pioneer / Philips comes to mind ....

There are pro and con for each.
For Plasma, watch out for the burn-in effect on the screen.
Soon your top right hand corner of the TV will have the channal 5 or 8 or whatever logo.
Look at the plasma display in the MRT station and you will understand. ;)

I think the issue is still there ... just that it has been greatly reduced ...
This is one of the characteristic of plasma display.

we have 3 LCD panels at home

32" 26" and 18"

great picture quality, no complains at all.

chose LCD due to longer lifespan over plasma and better picture quality.

waiting for the price of 42" LCD to drop before buying one

Plasma consume more power than LCD TV.

Philips 42" LCD Ambilight pixel plus 2

Or Samsung model 40" LCD TV

Too bad singapore board cast only transmit at 50Hz only.

Not true lah, I have Pioneer plasma TV for 4 yrs+ and also my son play games with it.
The burn in effect is not permanent, will go away after awhile.

Like what adam asked ..any budget ?

For the price of an 37" Sharp LCD LC37GM2 u can get a 42" and above plasma

dump ur hard $$ on a Loewe LCD!!

Plasma or LCD are all wide screen format. When watching TV programs, all the people look obese to me leh - meaning stretched!

That is why I hold back buying it when my 34 inch CRT is almost 10 years old now.

Really? i found this the other way round, on plasma's when watching sports the players become very blurry and motion is unsharp, LCD's seem to be much better and have a longer lasting life, this is comparing top end plasma's and LCD tv's

Mediacorp are not HD ready. when is ready price for LCD and plasma TV will drop further.

Now we are buying or paying the LCD or plasma HDTV ready but not using it.
