So far looking on Sigma APO 70-300 F4-5.6 Super II and Tamron 70-300 LD F4-5.6.

Which one is better in pic quality?

I heard that Sigma one is bad in mechanical thing. very easy to be broken. is that true?

Thanks:)

On the similar types of lens, I think Tokina and Sigma are better than Tamron. Tokina and Sigma feel more concrete. Tamron has a feeling of plastics.

Tamron has its good lenses. just have to read up on which one. Sigma has a spotty history and Tokina is slow period. So which one are you going to write off?

Would anyone recommend the Nikon 70-300mm F4-5.6G at list price of $300? The make was same as the ED version. :)

Just got hold of a Tamron 70-300, agreed that the pictures at the at the tele end looks a little soft.

I recommend 70-200VR

But the 200 is 100mm short of 300... get a tc to make up for the difference?

Nope, get a 300 f/2.8

Good ideal. But both will end up with $$$.

Nikon 70-300mm G lense is good for normal use

get the Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Macro.
I've got it and love this lens!
The macro from 200-300 can be "cracked" to allow full macro from 70-300mm!!
a thudd heavier than my kit lens (i'm using D50) but i love this lens!

nowadays, i'll just switch btn these 2 lenes...
:)
