recommend a waist bag...

need to get a waist bag, not for me... for my dad with the F828 & Flash, with some batteries... he kinda dislike having too much arsenal on hand, and definitely hate having a backpack or shoulder pack.

btw the lowepro deluxe S&F belt, can add with which bag to form a bag like that? maybe i could use the belt later on with some lens bag & a topload bag for street photography, or maybe buy the harness.

lowepro got some belt pack series... i saw a friend carrying his s2pro with 2 lense in it photo runner. if need more space can look at the orion or sideline shooter

Lowepro Photo Runner. Can fit a SLR, space for flash/batteries and some slmall items.

Can be used as waist bag and shoulder bag.

One more vote for Lowepro Photorunner ... nice and versatile. As inferred by teerex, has detachable shoulder strap and fixed waist strap (which you can "hide" behind a cover).

When travelling with not too much equipment, sometimes I just put it at the bottom of a normal backpack (so it doesn't look like a photo backpack), works really well.

anybody using the Specialist 85 AW, Off trail 2, or others?

I'm using a off trail 2 when i need to carry less gear. I'm sure you know all the good stuff, so here's some things to consider.

For a belt pack, Its BIG. so your mobility may be limited.
When I put in my 10D + 2 lenses + flash (haven't include the 2 side lens pouches yet) , You no longer feel secure using the belt strap part. Its pretty heavy, and it bounces a lot when u move quickly. You could use it as a sling bag if you want though.

Of course, I work around this by hanging the camera around my neck, leaving the additional stuff in the bag. But sometimes, you just dun wanna flaunt your camera, esp when travelling.

i use a photorunner as well, great bag when you want travel light. i think that the 828 would have to laid on it's side, but still with enought space for the flash & batts.

on the other hand, offtrail2 might be too big, esp with the side pouches which you might not utilise if you're using a 828.

i would suggest either a phototrunner or toploader, IMHO... :embrass:

I have a Off Trail 2, IMHO it is a very versatile waist bag, it also comes with sling where u could use it as a sling/shoulder bag too.. also comes with 2 extra detachable lens cases if u need more room for additional lenses..... it can house my 300D + Grip + 70-200F4 nicely with room for blowers etc etc........

it is also 'small' enuf to fit into my non-camera backpack...
