recommend a video card that has dvi output?

yeah i have been using a CRT but will be making the shift to a dell LCD.
would need some recommendation for video cards that have dvi output (pardon me but i am out of touch with the techy world)
will mainly be used for multimedia, ps post processing work.
no gaming though.

almost all new graphic card have DVI output nowaday, but still better check.

Since you don't do gaming or 3D stuff, you don't really need a highend card.

Some did claim that Matrox and ATi has better 2D output last time, now not so sure.

For general Multimedia and PS, you need more on CPU power and RAM (memory) though.

From what i understand you don't need a DVI if you don't play game. I don't think you will see a difference or improvement using a card with DVI.

NVIDIA Forceware Release 90 Ver 91.47
and my dell driver too
but no matter how i try, i cannot get the choice of 1680 x 1050

why ?
i am so tired at figuring this out

the driver does recognize the widescreen coz itgives me a choice of 1280x800
but thats is too wide!
why isnt the program coded for 1680x1050 ?

depends on usage. a decent PCI-E one will be the 7300GS

AGP can either be the ati x1600 or if really budget can go 9550.

resolution all can support up to 2048x1536. if your monitor is so big la

it is 20inch
for 1680x1050 native
been trying all ways, cant seem to get the driver to show that option.

Choice of resolution is dictated by the limitation/specs of both graphics card and monitor used. Make sure both are capable of resolution you desire. BTW, the refresh rate will need to be adjusted accordingly too.

FYI, incase you get in trouble by setting/forcing an invalid resolution to your monitor, don't fret... just boot on SAFE MODE then set your last working resolution setting. This is assuming your using windows.

ok so this is how it is

I have installed the latest dell .inf file
I have also installed the latest nvidia driver. NVIDIA Forceware Release 90 Ver 91.47
Chip set is Integrated GeForce4 MX GPU on a Shuttle XPC SN41G2
I am connected via analoge.
I am unable to choose a resolution of 1680x1050 (native).

This setting is not given to me as a choice.
It gives many other settings at 1600 or 1920
Interestingly, it does have a setting of 1280x800. (which is an indication that the driver understands widescreen format BUT was not coded to allow 1680x1050 ????)

i am not sure but it sounds like a graphic card issue. the problem without DVI. try to download a lower ver of the driver and try.

my recommendation is to get a new graphics card.

how much u got ur 2407 for? 699?

bought for $525 SGD brand new
dont think i can find a lower version of the driver.
nvidia dont have it on their website

working on it, but it seems the drivers on the nvidia page is the same for the different cards.
afraid that i might have the same problem of not being provided the option.

It may be depended on the graphic card,
guru3d got a lot of old driver, but if the latest one don't work, other are unlikely to work also.

what I mean is 1680 x 1050 may be is a new resolution, that's why older card may not have that info.

Funny thing is when I search the net, some are manage to change something in the driver (I am noob in this, so don't ask me also) for certain resolution, and some driver seem to work, some don't???

yes they force change it but that is for a linux system
i am running windows though :cry:
