It is not a rebranded Leica.

It is a Leica special limited edition, limited to 10 units only.

Leica is undergoing changes. It has killed off its previous R series by not making a digital SLR able to use the same R mount.

The closest they got to digital R series SLR was Leica DMR digital back for the Leica R8/R9 film cameras. It has been discontinued.

Th new Leica SLR S2 is a bigger format 37.5 megapixel 30x45mm sensor. With a very high price.

Leica M digital cameras are disadvantaged by not having autofocus.

So what is left is the marketing mystique and brand image.
