Hi all,

I noticed that images jpg converted from raw image with ViewNX2 have better sharpness and details compared to capturing in jpg file format. But there is extra step to perform such conversion and slow in reading those raw images. Neverthless, probably will just save in raw image format in the future rather than saving in both jpe and raw format. Not sure if the community share such thought?

Not really, prob the RAW conversion to jpg got an extra step which involved more sharpening. Anyway in jpg I do not sharpen. Coz you do that only when resized for whatever size (web, or your LCD), and for the print labs they will do sharpening themselves.

raw has more details due to no compression
most jpg taken straight from camera, are already processed by the camera, and in most case (in fact all i guess), are sharpened durin that process.
