- dramatic capture to emphasize darkness and lightness, dry and wet qualities

- raining, not much ambient light available, no tripod, cam on ground to reduce shake

- i am not sure if my decision to use such a narrow DOF is correct

half of me want to like this photo, particularly the colour tone and "mood".

but the other half says "so what about the water drops and dry leaf. So what?"

very contradicting...

I feel that if you want to focus on your leaf with a narrow depth of field, the leaf should occupy more of the frame. Should not shoot "far away" yet use a narrow depth.

But good attempt.

1. DOF is fine, but i prefer to make the droplet sharper..

2. its kinda dramatic, but he wet thing, hmnnn its only on the leaves, i thinks its better if the sorrounding is also wet

Is the leaf upside down? Think the DOF is a little thin but you've done well with setting the mood!

The mood works, but for the subject to be less than a quarters size of the whole frame, i feel its tad too small

It looks technically ok. I would think a tighter shot of the leaf or a different perspective would give you great improvement to the shot.
