I am shopping for a good rain jacket for use in the field when photographing birds. Any good recommendations?

I had one... got it from Beach Road (SAF overstock clearly marked on it)... there are these white tapes that hold things together and after one serious use, it began to fall apart. Had to throw the whole thing away.

Doesn't take huge space just pop it in your pocket.
Buy extra as it's big enough to cover your equipment.

I always have 2 in my camera bag front pocket.

I like these fake "North Face" jackets as they are very compact but not permeable like Goretex.
