And everyone was complaining about the slight increase in K-5 prices?
See the boxed area on the lower right-hand side of this Amazon page.

SG prices are the lowest around the world.

Edited: Did not see the extra ,000. Man, this is super expensive. Made of Super "rare" "rare earth" . . .

SG prices are the lowest around the world. Even US and Australia prices are higher than ours . . .
Oddly enough, Euro prices for Pentax are on par with us.
US consumers are demanding why Euro prices for Pentax are higher than ours.
BUT, I understand they have a rebate discount on their prices that brings it down to like USD$1200+. On par with ours.

Actually comparing to D300s and 7D (both about a year now) it is not too expensive comparatively, especially the package come with the the latest technology in the same class such as higher ISO and newer sensor (comparing to D300s).

Well the cheaper Pentax lenses have more than make up for the slightly higher price of K-5.

However, the line and price get a little blur when comparing to D7000, even the D300s fell victim to it own new serious amateur camera.

Usually retailers offer a period with price rebates. The equivalent of our local retailers selling 'slightly' below RRP.
Also, usually after a while, Pentax do reduce their RRP. But it does take a while...

As far as I know, rebate at the moment only in Europe, not US

In the first link (talking about the US):
* There will be a rebate or instant discount of ~$50 for the K-r in December.
* There will be no rebates or instant discounts for the K-5 until March 2011 at the earliest.

The current rebates are in the UK. I'm also waiting for rebates (just K-5 body) or price drop in the US, looks like need to wait till March.... :dunno:

B&H and Adorama seem to have lower the price of the K-5 body by US$100 from RRP, but that's not enough to compete with SG pricing yet.
