Hi all,

I hv sm queries abt batt.. as in wat's e diff btw rechargeable batt n NiMH batteries. I cm across the url b4 in tis forum if i nt wrong but jus can't find it..

so any1 kinda share wif mi wats e diff as i am deciding to get canon ixus400 or A80. Thanx... ur help is much appreciated..

NiMH or nickel metal hydride is one type of rechargable batt, the other older type is NiCd or nickel cadmium, so don't really get your qn?

NiMH are also rechargable batteries (AA, AAA, C type). Older generation of rechargable batteries are made from diff chemical, NiCd - Nickel Cadmium. Newer generation rechargable are made with Nickel Metal Hydride.

Most rechargable batteries available now are NiMH and they come in various capacities. e.g. GP/Sony commonly have the 1600mAh and 1800mAh. Sanyo have theirs available in 2100mAh and more recently the 2300mAh.

Depending on the power consumption of your camera or any device, generally the batteries with higher rating lasts longer, i.e. 2300mAh will last longer than 1600mAh on the same device. But of course depending on the charger used, charging time will be longer.

NiMH batteries for your A80 - AA size, a lot of brand (sanyo, GP, Sony etc) Cheaper to get and use external charger.

Rechargeable Battery in Ixus400 - more expensive and only can be use with selected model Camera (canon ixus series etc)
