qns regarding macro shots.

hi guys.
got a couple of qns for the macro experts in here.

1) to take macro shots. is it necessary to have a close up filter?

2) do you guys zoom out all the way when taking marco, or dun even zoom at all and just shift your cam near and away from the subject for focus?

3) is stacking of close up filter advisable?

4) do the more close up filters you stack affect the focus range?
