Hi there, just got back my photos recently..
Noticed that there were some unfocused shots.... a bit of blur.
I was thinking whether it was due to handshake...

I'm using a F80S coupled with the stock 28-80G lens.
Luckily my shots were done with exposure capturing on...
One of the shots were 60, f5.6, with Fuji Reala.
Not on tripod.

I think it is due to the slow lens right?
What are the acceptable shutterspeeds for hand-held use?

Many thanks!

General rule of thumb is 1/focal length.

First, identify if it's out-of-focus, or camera shake. If you see double images, very slightly offset from each other, then it's shake.

Rule of thumb is to use 1/focal length, and the closest shutter speed to that (on the faster side). e.g. 1/250 for 200mm lens.

With practise, you can actually get away with lower and lower shutter speeds, easier if your camera is well damped to prevent vibrations (e.g. Nikon F100, F5, Canon 1V etc). I can handhold up to around 80-105mm at about 1/30s without additional support.

With a rangefinder like the Leica M series, Voigtlander Bessa series, Contax G1/2 etc, you can hand hold at even slower speeds as there is no mirror slap.

Regards
CK

Lol.. :bsmilie:
I meant hand shake shutter speeds..
My brain-hand coordination was a little disoriented... :)

Anyway, thanks a lot for the info!
I think it's my shaky hands.
Gotta practise having steady hands... :)

I did hold my breath.. but some of the shots still suffered from it.
Thanks a lot anyway!
