1) Distance from camera to object, as near as possible
2) Distance from object to background, as far as possible
3) Aperture of camera, as big as possible

Of course, don't forget to factor in composition.

Zoom to an adequately long focal length and shoot at the widest aperture.

just to add on to ahbian's point

Aperture as big as possible means the F number as small as possible. Not the other way round.

Sigh, to think I answered in the other thread. Post count: 2 from TS, both on the same thing. Must be really "that important".

The effort he put into posting would have gotten him all the answers he could ever want if he didn't rely on spoon-feeding.

thanks guys!is there any simpler way to say it?

Simpler way to say it?

Play around with your camera until you get it.

okay,i understand.thanks anyway!

I did tried, having the F number lowest, object near to camera while background far.

Did you read any of the articles in the google search?? Are you using your longest telefocal reach?

All the points are generic, zooming in (increasing the focal length) would also help in blurring the back ground. When I mentioned about composition being important, I mean that the blurring of background is just an effect, it doesn't automatically make for a good photo.

What subject are you experimenting on?
