Hi all,

I am very new to Pentax Camera and I find Pentax really a good choice.

But I face few difficulty and problem when using the camera K10D:

I set the Mode to M (Manual)
I set the Shutter Speed (which I prefer)
I took a shot.

Then I am going to shoot the next 1, I look at the shutter speed, it was changed automatically.

I don't know why.

I get quite irritated with this, because I need to reset the shutter speed again everytime i want to capture a new foto.

Anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks =)

What lens did you use? Also double check that u did not accidentally press the green button because this is asking the camera to calculate the exposure for you. You can also try setting the shutter speed in other mode like P and Tv mode to see does the behaviour reoccur.

I am using Manual Lenses Smc Pentax-M 50mm/2 and Smc Pentax-M 135mm/3.5

I am not able to set shutter speed in Tv, Sv, or P. I don't know why, when I point the camera to a dark area, the shutter speed decrease and vice-versa

Haha, i am sorry for the trouble. I went to Menu, find the reset and reset all the initial setting, and now it works great, no sudden change in shutter speed. I think it was cause by some function inside the camera which I am dont know =)

Tv, Sv and P mode do not work with K or M lenses. They will act as Aperture Priority. Note that in Aperture Priority, your lens will not be stopped down to your Aperture Ring setting. The correct way to use the K10D with K/M lenses is to

1. Set Manual mode
2. Set your prefered aperture on the aperture ring
3. Frame your subject
4. Press the green button. The K10D will then do a few things:
i. Stop down the aperture
ii. Take a meter reading
iii. Sets the appropriate shutter speed for the exposure
5. Focus and release shutter

If the chosen shutter speed does not suit your need, you should compensate by adjusting the ISO or the aperture ring and keep using the green button until you get the shutter speed you want.

Larger aperture (smaller f number) allows for higher shutter speed
Higher ISO allows for higher shutter speed.
