just came back from the beach and realized that there's this spot at the 7o'clock mark on my CPL. its not oil and dirt as i've already used lens spray and blower on it.

anyone know whether its a scratch or smthg? anyway to correct it?

Can you check whether it is reflective or whether you can see through? If the latter one than the foil between the two glass plates has a defect.

First time that I hear that seawater is so aggressive. Since the coating is at the back side of the glass (facing the lens, not the outside) I'd rather suspect a production fault.

well if its multi coated does it mean its coated on both sides?
anyhow tkfoto was nice enough to replace the filter

That refers to the anti reflective coating, not to the polarization layer. Good that you got it replaced, that's customer service as it should be.

not seawater la.

sometimes people get overzealous when cleaning their filters though.. don't rub it too hard.

i don't think its coz of cleaning. coz such a clearly defined spot is more likely due to liquid. rubbing would have a different shape no?
