Hi All,

Over at Canon, they have this Privileged Purchase Program where you can take a old/damaged Canon to their Customer Service Department which will entitle you to 20.5% off RRP of a Camera. Does anyone know whether there is such a program at Pentax Singapore?

By the way, this Canon program is not an "advertised" promotion in case anyone wants to call them up or look for this on their website. It's just their way of trying to keep Canon shooters shooting Canon ;)

I doubt it. Pentax price is already cheap in comparison with their rivals. They will lose even more money if they come up with this PPP

You buy the Canon from outside it is already with that 20% off RRP w/o trading in anything. :)
So its nothing more than a gimmick.

Not really . If I rem correctly , the street price is usually ard 10-15% cheaper then RRP but their buy back is 21% cheaper . Overall still cheaper by a bit .

But then got to go 2 time . 1st time trade in the camera , then order , then wait for stock to arrive then etc etc

yes their ppp program is cheaper than outside a bit...
but still more exp than pentax...

Do they accept non-canon cameras?

There is already a thread on Canon's PPP and someone helpful has also written/answered all the questions commonly asked...

already covered very intensive over at canon...

no point advertising it over here.

TS, are you considering buying into Pentax from Canon?

You can compare yourself (price guide section) the prices in shops for Pentax will be a bit lower than the equivalent Canon product w/ or w/o the PPP.

i think if you go to most or the shop that we recommend for pentax can ask for the 22% from RRP and sure they don't mind sell you one...
K-x with 18-55mm RRP is about $1200+???
after 22% is $936
then the shop staff will say thank you to carrot head...
while they are plan to sell at around $800 only...

Aiyoh, ppl... He's just asking if Pentax Singapore (Is there even one? Emjay is just a distributor) excepts trade-in to offset his new purchase.

Dunno if TS is selling his old Canon or Pentax camera. Alternatively, can try BnS if it's still in working condition. Might get you a better price? :dunno:
