matt or glossy? and why? colour?
n how do u guys store ur 4R prints?whats the correct way?so they will last a long time.
thx:)

Its personal preference mostly. But for presentation purposes, its definately gloss.
Prints never last very long (shorter if you expose them to strong light). The only way to preserve yr picts are to store the negatives into a dark cool dry place. A dry cabinet works pretty well.

so if i wana print a super 8r to put on a frame i should print glossy?
so what is matt for?

Matt dosent stick to the frame or attract fingerprints as much as glossy does. I prefer to print as matte for this reason. I dont store prints as archives but as mentioed earlier I keep the neaatives in a cool dry place :)

negatives? u mean negative film?
i shoot digital

Well storing prints in an album in a cool dry place away form sunlight would help. Glossy also tends to stick to the plastic sleeves of albums more so than matte too.

Or backup onto dvds and store in your dry cabinet..should work too =)

ya i back up to cd
but i heard digital files have a life time too?
then they just become corrupt?

Eh? Never heard before leh...thought only becomes corrupt when your dics become unreadable (like mouldy or scratched)...but I usually quite kiasu...backup on harddisk and dvds...haha

gloss if there'll be nothing between the print and the eyes. matte for everything else.

so it depends on your presentation. for putting behind a glass/plastic frame, slot in album, basically almost anything, gloss prints will stick to it.

if you mount on a board and display on the wall, then gloss is nice. but not for long if it's a dusty room. :bsmilie:

haha i think cds or dvds would be better cause HDD do not last as long. n got more problems;)

ok got it
thx for the info guys...

glossy is good for eyes only. matt is best for other things - including exhibition, archival, framing. plus matt fiber photo papers will last longer (fade off time).

I always go for MATTE

ok guys got it
thanks :D
