Thanks.

ok thanks. is allan photo good for these lens?

Major recommanded camera shops would have what you need :)

For new lenses, u can check out the nikon price list on this forum for more information on latest prices. Even for the quoted shops, it is still wise to do some homework prior.

not really, the D5k can mount and use all the f mount lenses but some with limited function
(check your user manual)

to see the full range of lenses that has full function on a D5K
go to nikon singapore web site and look at the lenses page
any lens with an [AFS] in it's name has full compatibility

Who quote you $800 for a prime lens and which prime lens?

Here are some prime lenses you can use on D5000 with AF-motor built-in. The Nikkor AF-S 35mm f/1.8G should suit your budget, cost less than $400 and the rest should cost less than $800 if I'm not wrong.
  1. Nikkor AF-S 35mm f/1.8G
  2. Nikkor AF-S 50 mm f/1.4G
  3. Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM
  4. Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM

I think below lenses will cost more than $800 today.

Nikkor AF-S 50 mm f/1.4G
Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM

i think the cheapest prime that u can get is 35mm f/1.8G. dont know for sigma's price..

Nikkor AF-S 50 mm f/1.8D is a very good and a very inexpensive lens. You can also find lot of people selling them in Buy/Sell Nikon section. :)

Nikon did not make an AFS 50mm F/1.8. I'd recommend the AFS 35mm F/1.8 DX instead.
