Hey all,

Im looking at getting 1-2 christmas gifts for some avid budding photographers with a budget of approximately $20. Any idea if an 8Gb Class 4/ Class 6 SDHC card will fit into this budget? Thank you for your help in advance.

I'll be heading down to Sim Lim and general computer stores to check out the price this weekend too and will feed back on the quotation that i have!

Regards,

$30+ for a sandisk 8gb ultra2 i think. which is a class 4.

other brands might be cheaper. but im afraid of cheaper card's reliability after a near shocked-to-death case of Almost unretrievable pictures from a Kingston card.

Sandisk SD Card 4gb - 14.60, 8gb 24.00
Extreme SDHC Class 6/10 - 4gb - 40.20, 8gb 79.90 (don't quite understand this line, class 6 should be Extreme III, Class 10 should be Extreme III 30mb/s Edition, how come both same price?)
Ultra II SDHC - 4gb - 18.30, 8gb 36.20

hope this helps...

Kingston SD card 8Gb class 6 @$24 SLR Rev.

Think its coz new batch of Sandisk no more I, II or III distinction for Ultra & Extreme.

Its just simply 'Ultra' or Extreme' with the later being UDMA. Extreme CFs are now 60 MB/s and Extreme SDHC are all now Class 10 30MB/s..

My vote goes for the SanDisk. Had flawless experience using their Ultra range, and on the one occasion when the card failed me, the local SanDisk guys willingly did a swop for me. 2-thumbs up!
