Short of just a pretty machine looking nice (we're looking dual-core processors which no regular laptops feature.... yet), this is a good reason to stop ur crazy upgrade bug and wait for 9mths.

Well, as said, it will be a feature in Leopard which is expected to be unveiled during Developer's Conference in August.

They are releasing betas now prolly to test water. But judging frm the huge, very welcomed & positive response from the Intel-Mac crowd, I guess they will be breaking away from their traditional all Mac approach (which may not go down well with hardcore fanboys) with this feature in Leopard.

hmmm... macbook pro looks good now... esp since i dun have to invest in PS CS2 for Mac, which doesn't run natively on the current MacTels anyway.... :heart:

i dun think it's a virtual machine... it's dual boot... that means you are running windows XP, just like running on a pc box...

This is really interesting. Apple is slowly moving away from exclusivity to mass market. Just like what they have done successfully with the Ipod. It makes extremely good business sense(ie Bigger market share). I wonder how long more before major PC makers enable their hardware to run Mac OS. They better think about it soon.

if the Boot Camp proves to work seamlessly, IMO apple really shoved a big stick up the collective posteriors of wintel empire. also, its a pretty smart move to go round those big-time software makers who dun make mac software, or are slow in releasing mac versions (read: adobe).

Well, it IS true.

With Boot Camp (which is expected to be an INTEGRATED FEATURE with OSX Leopard), Windows no longer has to run under emulation environment within OS X but full native mode (meaning its gonna run Windows as it is like what u do with ur Intel-PC, turn it on and voila).

if the Boot Camp proves to work seamlessly, IMO apple really shoved a big stick up the collective posteriors of wintel empire. also, its a pretty smart move to go round those big-time software makers who dun make mac software, or are slow in releasing mac versions (read: adobe).

Well, reports on xlr8yourmac did report smooth workings with Boot Camp.

With the exception of some stuff which are not working like bluetooth keyboard/mouse, sudden motion sensor & backlight on keyboard.

Wait lah bro. Hold onto ur dying machine as long as it can last until it goes up the lorry completely... den ur transition to Mac will be complete, with all ur workflow intact. ;p

there is, maxuss already hacked OSX to run on our normal pc, now what i need is a cpu that supports SSE3 and NX...

even though I am not a Mac user, I think it is stupid to use Windows in a Mac machine. It is like degrading Mac.

Partially because Windows has never been stable (even the trustable Win2K and XP).

Mac users will still be using OS X having known what kinda horrible *beep* Windows can give u.

Unfortunately, there are still plenty of *ahem* software which ain't really Macintosh friendly, like some of ur e-govt service sites, e-banking, some specialised softwares and the occasional game.

i will be able to play games or use those windows-only program on windows, and then boot to MacOS for photoshop, email and net surfing.

but not sure if u can access file in the two partition freely....cos Apple HFS cannot be recognised by Windows and Windows NTFS also cannot be recognised by MacOS.

It wouldn't make a different to the software maker since boot camp allows the Apple hardware to run Windows. The main loser will be those in the hardware business where their machine can only run Windows.

NTFS can.. but you cannot write to it. Can only read.
