Exploring with test shots of portraits, in studio and also normal daily portraits.

Hope to get some pointers from clubsnappers doing portraits, such as wolfgang and many more. :D

Kinda Wondering, other than referring to fashion magazines, any other sites or books u all refer to for the model posing techniques, lighting setup effect, etc?

Thanks in advance.;)

Believe it or not, browsing through women's mag helps. :)
Study the style, the lighting, poses and background used. Look at the shot and try to decipher if and when possible, how many light source are used. Look at the catch light in the subject's eyes and try to figure out how it was done... :)

Trial and Error.;)

Cheers.

What makes a good portrait shot? Well, it's quite debatable since one man's meat...

And yes, i would think shots done outdoor would be considered portrait shots...

DCs (EG S602Z, A40, A70 etc etc) are quite capable of producing good shots but the key to that is practise. :)
