Polarizer stealing my light!

My new tokina circular polarizer takes away 2 stops of light!! is that normal?

geez guess i won't be using it for hand held at nite then... and anyway do many of u use polarizers at nite?

Never heard of using polarizers at night, unless u want to cut out reflections?

I use them only under sun at night, don't think there's a need.

Funny Note: If you aim at a LCD screen, you turn the CPL... at one angle, it'll make ur LCD turn black!

dun use polariser at nite!
use it only when u want to cut down reflections, take bright blue sky and increase contrast and saturation ...

I do use them at night....
sometimes just after the twlight hr. !

it let you have that 2 stops to make something more interesting.

Haha...thats the only logical one i can think of.

The no logical one is...using a CPL indoors to cut reflections, except that it is already 10pm. So..considered using CPL at night?

same here, I do use them at nite for a different purpose....

but 90% of the time I use it on bright sunny day....so what 2 stops are we talking about here? :bsmilie:

actually a polarizer can be used as an ND filter since the loss of 2 stops of light. so using it as night or when there is no reflection to reduce, isn't crazy.
