are you allowed to make your own composition or must be "as it happens" kind of photos?

i am not very sure about it... the terms simply said that photographs can either be in colour or black and white, and photographs may be cropped.
and so sorry to exclude the location. its singapore... i went to the tooth relic temple in chinatown, and now i need photos of places like mosques and churches...

Agree, sometimes it's better not to see the places mentioned in all tourist guides. Less chances of getting non-locals into the frames - But on the other hand especially this is one of the "Asian colors": mixed by people from all over the world.
