Please Help!-Photoshop blues

Hi. I'm using Photoshop 7.
Everytime I try to use UNSHARP MASK or GAUSSIAN BLUR the program completely hangs. This happened last night.
I tried uninstall/re-installing the program but no change.
When I use the other filters (artistic/sharpen more/smart blur/motion blur etc. etc.) everything is fine. ONLY when I try to unsharp mask/gaussian blur does the problem occur.
Anyone have any ideas? Would appreciate any suggestions. I've been trying just about everything:dunno:

Goggle for 'reset photoshop preference' and try again?
