Poor Hong Kong Police are over worked and underpaid. The HK tycoons like Li Ka Shing and Lee Shau Kee should donate a big sum. say for example US $ 100 Million to be distributed and given as a year end Bonus to those Hong Kong Police constables who are at the Front Line and have been facing these violent rioters since June 2019. It is a Hardship Allowance. It is Hazard Pay. It is a way for HK tycoons (and other peaceful citizens of China living in HK ) to say Thank You to HK Police for looking after the city. The constable who shot the violent rioter with a live round (he was in danger of being killed by a gang of rioters) should be promoted.
And if the violent riots continue into whole year of 2020, other top HK tycoons should contribute another US $ 100 Million for the same Bonus to be given specifically to the HK Police constables who have to face the violent rioters. After all, the HK Police have had petrol bombs thrown at them, have been beaten with iron bars, one had finger bitten off and many had their family members threatened by violent rioters.

Lams latest response no face coverings equals complete failure. Xi Mao won't strike because of the deal. He is afraid of what the British would do if he breaks the treaty. What happens is going to be historical.

Hong Kong violent rioters drag an off duty Hong Kong policeman and set him on fire. Yesterday.

Hong Kong violent rioters beat Hong Kong police with iron bars, even after he has fallen on the ground.

Bank outlets and MTR stations are smashed and burned by violent rioters.

Afternote: One more incident. JPMorgan Chase employee beaten because he said "We are all Chinese".

Carrie Lam says she is invoking emergency powers, then in the same statement she insists that Hong Kong is not in a state of Emergency.
? ! It sounds self-contradictory.

In view of the above incidents, Hong Kong IS in a state of Emergency.

( Today, a friend showed me a video circulating on social media, on his mobile phone. It showed a middle aged man in Hong Kong who scolded the rioters. He was beaten unconscious [maybe to death] by the rioters. I am unable to verify or trace this video. Maybe you can find it.)

The panda better learn how to look after his children better which is a problem the eagle has too. The bulldog still has a tenacious lockjaw bite believe it or not. Everyone best get this business in order before it spirals out of control. Lots of stupid business nowadays we need to hold our leaders to account

The west is leaving everything behind because it has its own situation it has trouble dealing with. Rest of the world surfs up! There's rioting all over the planet because people are being squeezed...been going down for a long time

See the link and comment by PM Lee.
Right now DPM Heng is in China with Singapore 4G leaders, visiting various people to introduce themselves.
Today DPM Heng met Wang Qi Shan.
Obviously LHL cannot say anything bad about China in this Forbes Forum at this critical time. Fortunately he did not.
It is a question that would have been anticipated by LHL when invited to such a forum.
Such loaded questions are tricky.
Say the wrong thing and you get condemned.
Say the right thing and surprise - you also get condemned.
By people who choose to twist the answer and skew it to match their interpretation - and then demand an apology from you.
There are people like that in this world.

The HK violent riots have attracted opportunists who latch on to it, to further their own secret agenda and ulterior motives.
For example Denise Ho who is a Canadian citizen and a faded CMI (cannot make it) singer.
She went to the United Nations to make a speech purporting to represent Hong Kong's 7 million people who are China citizens.
After misusing the HK violent riots to gain media Visibility, Denise Ho is now earning money giving concert in New York.
Then there is Ted Cruz a CMI politician (cannot make it to be US president) who want to gain media coverage for himself.
And Josh Hawley a young senator who also wants to get media attention.
Back in US, no one gives two hoots about these two opportunists. They seek the lime light.

The west has her problem. Many times they create a big issue just to divert attention.

Trump impeachment and withdrawal of troop
