Man, I stumbled upon this blog and thought this was too good not to share! This is what happens when pirated copies of the film get translated into Chinese, then back into English again.

I think this is the explanation for "The backstroke of the west":

The first person who translated "Revenge of the Sith" into Chinese probably translated it as "西的反击". Not knowing exactly what a Sith is, he picked a character that sounded the same.

Next, the Chinese subtitles were given to another guy to re-translate it back to English. This guy probably have not even watched the movie and just translate blindly from the Chinese text given to him. Also, having "powderful" English fluency helped a lot, so he provided "The backstroke of the west" as the re-translation of "Revenge of the Sith".

Can anyone come up with guestimates on how the other translations ended up the way they did?
