theres no problem with using any mode, it depends on the person behind the camera. I go with normal all the way, a little too lazy to change and if theres i need i will do pp

i dont think you should use the modes.

unless you dunno how to post process....

its always better to use PS than to allow your cam to process it

it all depends on urself. I use vivid to shoot fireworks & ppl.
Shoot the same shot using different setting, then compare the pics.
tats how u leran & understand ur camera performance better.

the camera already does processing of images even in TIFF or Jpeg... best is still to post process it after shooting, can't get miracle photographs out of just the camera alone.. :sweat:

Totally agree, depending also what you want to capture and tell: FZ5 Still Live Vivid Mode.
Photos were not post-processed, just resized for web. (Not mine though, how I wished)

Things I've done in the 1min job
1) raise the curve
2) reduce shadows using a script that I have
3) raise saturation level of the yellow and cyan component
4) v slight sharpening via lab colour sharpening (I kinda regret because now that I look back, the image is sharp enough, no need to do this)
5) create a curve layer, mask only the statue using a brush to paint in mask area.
6) save

I tested vivid mode last time, and I stoppped using it. The red colour tends to be blown, not to my liking. Upping saturation in PS is alot easier..

It's a matter of rubbish in rubbish out. The original jpeg provided was of uber low quality, I don't think you can expect us to give you something good right?
I always edit and save at quality 11 (similar to 92% of other app's jpeg quality) and for web purposes, I never go below 9 level because after that I find the images looking quite horrible.
The image given original1.jpg was only saved at level 8... -.-"
