radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, uv, x ray, gamma ray

that's the electromagnetic spectrum, but how did you ppl memorise it during your exams? i keep messing up the order somehow...

phys pros come help!

"radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, uv, x ray, gamma ray"

in visible its
ROYGBIV

red orange yellow green blue indigo violet
(you can use mnemonics for this part, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROYGBIV, there is even a song about it)

then on the left, lower energy is infrared
on the right is higher energy, ultraviolet.

and you're left with radio waves, microwaves, xray and gamma.

remember gamma rays have more energy than xray then we're left with 2

radiowaves have less energy than microwaves

and thats about it

cheers

hmm... my physics tutor taught me this:

Ronald Macdonal I Love U Xiong Ge

the other direction:
Grandma X Usually Like Indian Muslim Rojak

Real Men Ignore Very Ugly eX Girlfriends

Radio Micro Infrared Visible UV Xray Gamma

That's how I remembered mine for my A lvls :bsmilie:

Close your eyes, open your eyes at the ordered list without reading, just look, close your eyes, save it. Read it later.

Godzilla X Uses Violence In Meeting Room

I always remember that Radiowaves is on one end because it can travel the furthest. Ok then the rest I forget already. :sticktong  :bsmilie:

Oh O levels need also!

i'm trying to come up with sth like ROYGBIV (that i know) for the EM spectrum so tt i can rememb faster..argh
Try this:

Run Off Young Girls, Boys In View :bsmilie:

Memorising it may not be the best thing to do. How about just trying sth more fun to remember it? Like draw a graphic design or sth and photograph it? when ever u need to revise it just look at the photo then at least u got sth visual to look at. It takes 12 frames of images in a consecutive sequence to make sense to ur mind. A photo is worth more then 12 frames. =) try it! it works for me when i need to remember sth.
