It would be appreciate if any user out there can share their views cos I am urgently gonna get one (either Phottix or original) by this Saturday. Due to tight budget, I am really considering the 3rd party....

Although i nvr used a 3rd party grip before, i would still prefer getting the original grip.

Nvr play ard anything related to power or batteries.

Has anyone tried Phottix in built battery grip for D80? I jus got one and after charging it for 2hrs, the green light appeared. When the light appeared green, I assume its already charge however when I switch to on button, no light and unable to on. I fix to the camera, can't even on and appeared low batt. Anyone got this problem before? is my set faulty or I need to charge it longer for the first time? thanks.

Any update if it's working? Phottix?

I am also planning to get one, where did you get yours, and how much?

I just need the grip for better handling, and most of the time, don't really need the extra battery, only for special long tracking that it's loaded with battery.

In additional, can anyone advise if it works without battery?

Thanks for any advise

I think it's because the Phottix battery is not really compatible with the D90, the grip you have will most probably work well with a D80 instead.

Nikon has made some changes to the D90, as such not all third party battery that at first could be used on the D80, could be used on the D90.

Phottix has another grip that is an exact MB D80 clone, ie, no built in battery, which can be used with the D90.

If you want the grip with built in battery , get the Travor.

Anyone have the experience of re-charging a fully discharged Travor grip ? Would like to know how long it takes to fully re-charge it.

Thanks.

Hi, the first time i charge my digicell D90 battery, the charger light lit indicate it's fully charged. But when i put to the camera, it's still empty. I thought the battery is malfunction. Then, i decided to charged for over night. Wala, it works good. The battery meter shot battery live 0 year and 100% charged. I have use it since last sunday and till today, still about 30%. I am heavily tested with live view, taking video, shot with flashes. I just got my D90 last weekend. hehe

there is a risk connected to the cheaper price
you will have to decide on the value of that risk
Yeah, I agreed that there is this element of risk.....

HAHA.... ;)bro, original might just be made in china as well.
To me its just the branding etc.
If the camera smoke up, then although the original might be made in china, you have a recourse ......

The harm will be when you see smokes and sparks while shooting half way ...

haiz ...

So far I think the only brand I trust for 3rd party batteries is Sterlingtek. Better battery life and lasts longer than originals.

i'm using phottix hand grip (without built-in battery) and 3rd party battery from OP for 2 mths, everything swee swee...

in fact, the 3rd party battery from OP, match or exceed oringinal batt cos i could easliy take 1.2k shoot (1 batt) before my D90 showing me low batt...

Anybody tried the jenis LCD timer battery grip with LCD for the D90?

I kinda like the idea of it having the timer function. I'm planning to buy a wired remote timer & battery grip for my d90 and since i saw this battery grip with the timer function its like buying two items for the price of one.

Hi

I am using a phottix grip on my D300.

It is a good reliable product and hasn't failed me. I use it for all important weddings and event shoots. :)

if you're willing to spend thousands on your gear why not another hundred on the grip/batt?

i feel in this case original would be safest, esp with batteries... have had a bad exp with 3rd party batts, never used them again.

then again, it's a personal choice...
