Hi I often see some picture posted B & W photos and the wanted object was abstracted into colour...May i know how to do it? Tks

put a B&W adjustment layer over your background image, and use a BLACK PAINT BRUSH to paint the mask on areas you want to have color.

for more detailed steps, do a search in the digital darkroom forum. =)

this is called "selective colouring"

google "selective colouring photoshop" thanks!

It is also known as Popping Colour effect.
You may go to this site for the step-by-step video tips.

321,

Photoshop is wonderful bcos u can use several methods to do one thing :
One fast way is:

1) create new layer
2) draw a selection around the object u want to be in colour
3) save the selection
4) Invert selection
5) go to adjustment and selection 'black/white'.

Walah, U got wat u want.
Hope that helps. God bless.

Just select the wanted object using the lasso tool, click on Select - Feather and type 20px. Click on ctrl+shift+I to invert selection. Then adjust the saturation to remove the colour of background
