First post!

Photo of my baby girl taken with the Pentax K5 & the Samsung version of the poor man's FA31 - the FA35 f2. Iso800, f2.8, 1/125s.

Mixed feelings with this shot - although I like the way the specular highlights were thrown OOF with the wide aperture, the background just seems too messy somehow. Any thoughts to help me improve - composition, exposure, processing etc - will be greatly appreciated! :)

coming from a k-x background, I am really amazed by the low light performance of k-01 (k-x was already quite a good low light cam) so like to share some low lights pics taken with k-01...all pics are taken with k-01 with FA 77..i shoot in manual with shutter speed fixed at 1/20 mostly..iso pushed up when necessary..no pp was done to remove the noise but some of the pics have their exposure push by 1/3 stop in Photoshop.all pics are taken outside a chalet at changi..due to there was no outdoor lights other a small lampost, it was quite dark

lastly i agreed that noise is apparent when view at original size but on a computer screen, i find them more than acceptable

Shot these during the boat cruise at Tianjin of China, hence no way of using tripod and ND filter.
95% of my shots at -1 to -2ev, China seems to have a brighter sky? Glad that everyday the sky is blue compared to SG.
Thanks to Loke for lending me his K5 while mine was at Japan for repair.

Not competent enough to give you any technical critique save to say that i like it :). Your girl's expression and direction of her eyes makes me curious what she is looking at. The colourful shiney baloons in the background hint of something fun as the answer.

Not sure if any other lens or aperture setting can improve the "busy-ness" of the background at all in any way cos it's just naturally colourful and shiny... anyway i think it's appropriate for the picture.

Wow really blue sky... For a moment i thought a blue GND was used.

Thanks for taking time out to comment on the picture! You're right abt camera settings not being able to "rescue" the busy BG of course. When I was taking the picture I thought the shine from the balloons would give a nice bokeh for the picture, but I guess it didn't turn out the way I envisioned it. Better luck next time i guess!

I was down in Orchard Central the other day
Using K5 FA43

Please give your comments. no harm exchanging ideas. ;)

Some shots of the Summer Resort.
All handhled, no tripod, no filter (no time to setup).

The Mountain Resort in Chengde (避暑山庄) is the place Kangxi and Qianlong Emperors will spend several months a year there to escape the summer heat in the capital city of Beijing.

Visited Lower Peirce Reservoir Park for Sunset Yesterday :)

On the subject of blue sky...
Blue sky also means high UV rays?
Cos my transition lens turned dark fast...

Took these last week at Auckland, NZ with K5+DA*16-50.

Awesome start to Season IV of this magnificent on the Pentax sub-forum.

Great shots guys!

Kengoh, you have convinced me to put TianJin on my to go to list. Beautiful shots.

Yamasaki, K-01 put to good use indeed. Very cue cat too. :)

Ben, wow! the skies are so blue. Hope to see more.

Something I realise and I think many have also is that the LCD screen is not true to what the lens is capturing. So focusing is hard.
